Collecting GCSE results: UPDATE

Published on 20/08/20

To: all Year 11 students

As per our previous messages, you will receive your GCSE results tomorrow.

Please read all of the information below as it contains important guidance about when to collect your results and the safety arrangements.

When should you collect your results?

In order to minimise the mixing of students and maintaining social distancing ratios within the school building, we are inviting students to school at allocated times. Year 11 will arrive in form groups to collect their results; timings for each form group are detailed in the table below:

What if you (or someone in your family) feels ill?

In line with government guidance, if you or someone in your family has any of the Covid-19 symptoms (a high temperature; a new continuous cough; a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) please do NOT come into school.

How can you collect results if you can't come into school?

Results will be available to view on the Weduc app from 11am on results day. All Year 11 parents and students have been sent enrolment details for Weduc. For further information please see here.

Students can nominate an individual to collect their results; nominated individuals will need to bring a form of photo identification in order to collect the results. Letters can be emailed to school (to: exams@silverdale-chorustrust.org ) before Friday 17th July 2020 or brought in on results day itself.

where should students collect their results from?

Students collecting results in person will be asked to line up outside the external PE entrance using the markings on the ground. Members of the school team, including Mrs Hussain and Mr Kent, will be on hand to greet students as they arrive and will ask all students to sanitise their hands before entering the building.

Results will be handed out in the school sports hall and students will be directed to the appropriate desk for collection. Members of the leadership team and pastoral staff will be in school to offer support and guidance to any students who wish to talk through their next steps and options.

Once results documents have been collected students will then move into the Assembly Hall to confirm their subjects on their 6th form application form or to exit the building. The 6th form team will meet with individual students who need further support or wish to make changes to their original choices.

Unfortunately, we will need to remind students who do not need further support to make way for the next form group to arrive, so that we can maintain safe levels of social distance in the building.

Can parents accompany their children?

Family members may wait for their children in the car park or off site. If your child is anxious you may accompany them into school to collect their results slip but you will have to wait till the end of their form’s allocated time slot.

and finally...

Once again, PLEASE keep to your allocated time slot and keep a safe distance from staff and students. There will be the temptation to hug other people - but sadly, no hugging allowed!

This has been an exceptional year for all of us, however, we would like to reassure you before the summer that the process of awarding centre assessed grades (CAGs) was one conducted with the upmost professionalism and fairness. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
