Build-a-Bot Competition

Well done to our three winners!

The Build-a-Bot competition launched last month challenged students to take on a real-life problem and then build a robot which they thought would best solve that problem. Using knowledge they had gained in their Computer Science lessons, students had to ensure the robot had a purpose but also consider the ethical and cultural effects that the robot could have on society. The three winners all came up with different solutions to different problems:

Taylor Brown, 8I, won a Micro-Bit for her invention of a robot which would help those suffering from mental health issues due to the recent lockdowns. It was aimed at those who are living alone.

Joseph Li, 9S, won hydraulic robot arm for his submission about a robot that would collect litter and then sort it on its own. It was aimed at places where lots of litter is dropped.

Jude Bailey, 10S, won an amazon gift voucher for his project, a program written in Python which would automatically sort your folders based on name, file type, dates, and other information you give it.
