Current Issues with the bus service to and from school

First Buses and Stagecoach have recently announced that they are reducing their services in the city by around 30%. If your child catches the bus to school, you will be aware that this has made it increasingly challenging over the last couple of weeks to get to and from school in a timely manner.

As we do not want to unfairly sanction students for issues that are out of their control, and so we will not be performing the daily late detentions until the standard of services improves.

Students who are late will continue to be marked with an “L” as per our statutory responsibility, and we will still send an email / WEDUC message home to notify you that your child is late that day, but we will not be logging any behaviour points for lateness to school or performing the daily lunchtime detention.

School has contacted First Buses, Stagecoach, our local MP and also Sheffield’s mayor to notify them of the issues with the bus service as we are concerned for the safety of our students travelling by bus and the impact on their education. We hope to find a mutual resolution sooner rather than later.

If you have any feedback, or would like to discuss this issue further then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
