Headteacher's update 18

Published on 29/09/20

Dear parents and carers,

Whilst school continues to run smoothly and the vast majority of students are complying with our Coronavirus safety measures, please can you talk to your children about the following:

The importance of cleaning hands

There are many opportunities to wash or sanitize hands during the day and especially before eating.  Whilst we are supervising the use of hand sanitiser when students enter the eating areas, please encourage your child to continue to regularly sanitise or wash their hands, and particularly before eating (whether in a designated eating area or not) and after using public transport.

Face masks

Increasing numbers of students are arriving at school without a face mask.  Whilst school is providing disposable face masks, this is very expensive and using funds that would otherwise be spent on teaching and learning.  If possible, please can you provide some spare disposable masks for your child to carry in their bag and use in the event they forget or lose their mask.  Many thanks if you have donated to the mask fund on parent pay or donated some fabric masks.

Ventilation of classroom

The windows and doors of classrooms will be kept open this autumn, in line with government guidelines.  The one way system also means that students have to go outside whilst they are travelling between lessons.  As the weather becomes colder, your child will need a school jumper (and maybe an underlayer) in order to stay warm.

Punctuality

A reminder that all students should arrive at school between 9.15 and 9.30am.

Social distancing out of school

Please encourage your children to follow the guidelines, including the 'rule of six' out of school.   The current government guidelines can be found at:  www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
