Headteacher's update 27

Published on 06/12/20

Dear parents and carers,

Year 11 Mock Exams

I am pleased to report that our Year 11 students have approached their mock exams with maturity and attendance has been excellent.  We are particularly proud of how our Year 11s have approached their learning this term and the various self-isolations, changes and uncertainties caused by COVID.  Well done!

The Sheffield Progress website is now open for Y11 students to begin to make their post-16 applications and the relevant information has been shared with the students.  The deadline is 27th January 2021.  Information about Silverdale Sixth Form can be viewed here.

In the Event of Heavy Snow

In the event of snow, we will continue to implement the one-way system and all students will use the outside routes during lesson changeover.  Therefore, snowballing will be banned anywhere on the school site and sanctions will be issued for students who throw snowballs.

In the event of heavy snow, we may delay the start of the school day; this would be to allow time for students and staff to safely travel to school, and to ensure the site is safe.  We will endeavour to make this decision before 7am and communicate using the WEDUC app and the school website as usual.

PTA Annual General Meeting

Everyone is very welcome to our PTA AGM on Tuesday 8th December at 7.30pm.

Please email the school at: enquiries@silverdale-chorustrust.org  to register and receive the link for the GoogleMeet.

COVID Update

During the week 27th November- 4th December we had confirmed positive cases in Year 10 (1 student) and Year 11 (1 student).  In both cases, the students were already isolating so there were no close contacts identified in school.  Further information about current restrictions can be found here.

Best wishes,

Mrs Sarah Sims
Head of Silverdale School
