Return to school arrangements

Published on 18/08/21

Below is information about the arrangements for returning to school in September.

On Site Covid Testing

Each student will be offered two onsite Covid tests – one before the beginning of term and the other during lesson time after the start of term.

Up to one third of people who have coronavirus are asymptomatic. By testing we will help to reduce the spread in school settings through asymptomatic transmission. The government is therefore strongly encouraging those returning to school to be tested.

Consent

If you had Covid tests at Silverdale in March, then you already have given consent and do not need to complete the form again.  We will assume all students who have consent will attend school at the correct time for the test.  If this is not the case, or you would like to withdraw your consent, please inform us on enquiries@silverdale.chorustrust.org.

If you have not already given consent for Silverdale Covid testing, please complete the online consent form before Tuesday 24th August. You can access the form at: https://tinyurl.com/5bkafuuh

  • Students younger than 16 years: this form must be completed by the parent or legal guardian. Please complete one consent form for each child you wish to participate in testing.
  • Students over 16 who are able to provide informed consent: can complete this form themselves, having discussed participation with their parent/guardian if under 18.
  • For any student who does not have the capacity to provide informed consent: this form must be completed by the parent or legal guardian. Please complete one consent form for each child you wish to participate in testing.

The 90-day window after a positive test

If someone has tested positive with a PCR test, they should not be tested using either PCR or rapid lateral flow tests for 90 days, unless they develop new symptoms during this time – in which case they should be retested immediately using PCR.

This 90-day period is from the initial onset of symptoms or, if asymptomatic when tested, their positive test result.
