Letter from our Head Teacher

Dear Parents & Carers,

Activity Day – 8th July 2022

We are pleased to inform you that on Friday 8th July, all KS3 students will be out of school on a trip. The day is designed to celebrate our students’ achievements, broaden their experiences, and develop our sense of community.  A series of trips are on offer and a letter with details about each trip will be sent out to you. Students need to make their trip selection by Friday 22nd April.  Students will also be given time in their form to complete this.

Sensory session for children who are anxious about having vaccinations

The school nursing team are holding a relaxed sensory session for children who are anxious about having vaccinations. This is a unique opportunity to familiarise yourself with some of our friendly team in a non-clinical, relaxed environment. You are welcome to bring more than one family member along.

We will have the time available to be able to provide information about vaccinations, listen to any concerns and introduce you to resources that can help with fear of needles. There will also be an opportunity to be vaccinated on the day if your child is comfortable with this.

We will be on hand to support you with any challenges around accessing adolescent vaccinations for: COVID 19, HPV, TDP & Men ACWY on a one-to-one basis.

Call the 0-19 Sheffield Children’s Vaccinations and Immunisations Team on 0114 305 3230 or email

scn-tr.sheffielddutysn.vacandimm@nhs.net to ask any questions or book an appointment.

Or just drop in to The Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, S5 6AE on Thursday 14th April 10am -2pm, where we look forward to welcoming you.

News from the Performing Arts Faculty

In the last couple of weeks, we have enjoyed the cumulation of lots of hard work from students and staff in the performing arts faculty.

King Lear was performed by a very talented group of KS4 students.  The script had been adapted by the group and was delivered as an immersive experience where the audience enjoyed playing an active role in the performance throughout!

The performance of Peter Pan was a sell-out success and involved a very talented and large group of KS3 students who adapted the script themselves, made all the props and produced their own creative version of the play.  Well done to everyone involved!

Last week our Drama and Theatre students in Y10 and Y12 have started their devising process towards 40% of their exam. To launch this beginning, different theatre companies have been invited into school to work on developing the approach to theatre via their unique methodology.  Many thanks to Paper bird, Geko and Frantic Assembly for giving their time and experience.

Thank you for all your support this term and I hope you and your families have a happy and peaceful Easter holiday.

Best wishes,

Sarah Sims
