Dear Parents and Carers...

A message before the holidays from our Head of School

Dear Parents/Carers,

Return to School – Tuesday January 3rd

Please remind your children that we will be resuming the punctuality detentions for any student arriving to school after 9am.  They will attend a social detention at the start of lunchtime.

Foodbank Collection

Thank you to all families who took part in our foodbank collection; it was wonderful to receive so many donations. Mr Jones and Mr Clayton delivered all the donations to the S6 Foodbank. The S6 foodbank works to provide nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them who are in crisis. They distribute in a range of locations. You can see the locations here.

If you know of someone that might need to access this service please share this link.

Y11 Parents’ Evening

A reminder that Parents’ evening for Y11s is on Thursday 12 January in school.  Your child will be able to book appointments from Tuesday 3rd January with their teachers.

Y12 and Y13 Mock Exams

A reminder to parents of students in 6th form that students will be sitting examinations after the Christmas holidays. The Y13 mock exams will run between the 9th and the 17th of January and the Y12 exams will run between the 18th and the 27th January. A number of real exams also take place in this window for Y13 students studying vocational subjects. Good luck to all students revising over the holidays: make sure to rest and relax too!

Form Book Boxes

Students in years 7-9 have made book boxes for their form rooms.   They have decorated their boxes beautifully and have started to fill them with good reads.  We will continue to have regular quiet reading time in the new year and students will be able to choose books from the form box.

If you have any books or magazines suitable for students in Years 7-9, please send them in to your child's Form Tutor and we will add them to the boxes.

A big thank you to the PTA for helping to fund the form reading box initiative.

Well done to:

  • 8E, 8R and 8D - joint winners of the 'most creatively decorated' box
  • 7S for the best team effort
  • 7R, 8D and 9E for the best selection of books in each year group.

I wish you a happy and healthy Christmas, and look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Tuesday 3rd January.

Best wishes,

Sarah Sims
