Excellent results
GCSE and A-level results are consistently well above the local and national averages. In 2018 our Progress 8 score was +0.67 - which was the highest in the whole of South Yorkshire and our best results ever!
A broad and balanced curriculum
A great mix of academic, creative, practical and sporting subjects.

Our staff work hard to make lessons fun and engaging, often linking with outside organisations or organising trips, to bring their subjects to life.
Emotional health and wellbeing
We have invested in training for staff covering issues such as restorative justice, mental health, LGBT support and crisis management. Our Learning and Student Support teams help our students both inside and outside of the classroom.
Committed and talented staff
'Teaching is... frequently outstanding. Teachers have excellent subject knowledge which they use expertly to plan activities that are challenging and encourage students to give of their very best'.
- Ofsted, 2014
No one left behind
We provide specialist support to improve outcomes for all pupils, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our team are trained in safeguarding, inclusion, dyslexia and literacy, autism and communication, behaviour and engagement. The school also houses a Deaf and Hearing Impaired Integrated Resource.
A diverse and welcoming community
We currently run a Homework Club after school in our library, which is open to all students and runs under the supervision of specialist staff. This is particularly useful for students who may not have access to a quiet space in which to work at home.
Staff, parents and carers also get involved in the Silverdale PTA (Parents' and Teachers' Association), organising social and fundraising events.
Exceptional Sixth Form
In 2017 our students achieved 72% of grades at A*, A or B, which are the best results of state schools and colleges in Sheffield. 61 students out of 146 this year went on to Russell Group universities. 7 of those went to Oxbridge.
Modern facilities
As well as a state of the art building with modern science labs, language labs and sporting facilities, our Design and Technology department has a 3D printer and laser cutting machine.
Extra curricular activities
We run annual trips abroad to support language learning, as well as a ski trip and Duke of Edinburgh awards. We also have numerous lunchtime and after school clubs, which are listed here, as well as regular events such as our Masterchef competition.
Local Bake Off celebrity, Howard Middleton, judging our Masterchef competition.
