Newsletter for parents & carers of Silverdale students (9 March 2020)
Monday 9 March 2020
Welcome to our newsletter
Dear parent/carer,
Thank you for your continued support as we try and encourage students to regularly wash their hands. We will continue to provide you with any updates about Coronavirus provided by the Department for Education and Public Health England.
In the meantime, school life continues. Below you will find information about next year's term dates, which I hope is useful in planning ahead.
I am also sharing news about changes our teaching staff have made to marking and feedback. Please take time to read the full article. Staff have been working extremely hard to further develop their professional practice and ensure that our students get the very best, tailored education possible. I am extremely proud of the work they have done and am convinced that our students will benefit.
Thank you, as ever, for your help and support in all of this.
With very best wishes,
Mrs Sarah Sims, Head of Silverdale School
Changes to Marking and Feedback
Our teaching staff have been working on changes to how they provide feedback to students.
This forms part of our move to Responsive Teaching, where teachers regularly check on students' understanding during and after lessons - so they can make adjustments to the pace, content and manner of learning to meet the needs of the students.
This will mean that students get feedback on their work more quickly but perhaps in a different way from traditional marking.
However, seeing less written marking does not mean that teachers care less about students and their work!
Silverdale School presents Oliver Twist. Based on the stage adaptation by Neil Bartlett and the classic Dickens' tale.
Tickets £5. Concessions £3.
Available from Resources room.
