Silverdale students celebrate GCSE success

Published on 24/08/23

Year 11 students at Silverdale School have been celebrating their GCSE and Level 2 vocational qualification results, in a year that sees a return to pre-pandemic grading nationwide.  This means that grades in 2023 are comparable with those issued in 2019.

The Year 11 students collectively achieved results of which they can be proud. Silverdale students sat exams in 36 wide ranging subjects such as history, 3D design, imedia and hospitality & catering.  The school offers the opportunity for students to sit exams in their home language, and the class of 2023 gained GCSEs in some seven languages including Arabic, Chinese and Urdu.

Many of the students now embark on sixth form life at Silverdale Sixth Form, judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ last year, and now housed in a purpose-built Sixth Form facility.

Head of Silverdale School, Sarah Sims, said: "It’s been a privilege to watch these students receive their results, after working so hard through some very unusual years of education.  We are proud of them all.  Our thanks also go to their families for supporting them through their studies and to the Silverdale staff who – as ever - have worked with our students every step of the way.

"We are looking forward to welcoming many of the students back to Silverdale in September, where they will take the next step in their education, in our brand new Silverdale Sixth Form facility."
