Headteacher's update 28

Published on 11/12/20

Dear parents and carers,

Change to end of term - and contact tracing during holiday

Yesterday you should have received a message from Chris James, the Chorus Trust CEO, explaining the reasons behind the early closure of school next week.

To reiterate, the end of term arrangements are:

  • The last day of term for students will be Thursday 17th December, which will end at the normal time of 3.15pm.

In summary, the arrangements for Covid contact tracing in the holiday break are:

  • If your child tests positive for Covid, having developed symptoms before 3.15pm on Saturday 19th December, you should email news of the test results to: enquiries@silverdale-chorustrust.org (please include your child's full name, year group, the date of the test and the date their symptoms started).
  • If your child develops symptoms after 3.15pm on Saturday 19th December please contact NHS Test and Trace.
  • If your child has been identified as a close contact of someone in school who has tested positive, we will contact you by email and text message up to and including 23rd December).

‘Dress as You Please Day’ - Wednesday 16 December

On Wednesday 16 December there will be a non-uniform day.   We ask that students bring £1 donation that will be split between the PTA fund and local charities.  Also on Wednesday, our traditional Christmas lunch is being replaced by a Christmas wrap.

Parents Teachers Association

Many thanks to everyone who have organised or  supported PTA events in the past year.

The PTA have two ways where you can support the school while you shop online:

Shop AmazonSmile at https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ch/1177824-0, and Amazon donates to Silverdale School PTA, at no cost to you.

Register for EasyFundraising and support the school via a range of online retailers: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/sspta/?utm_campaign=raise-more&utm_content=w1

Free School Meals during the Christmas holidays

If your child is eligible for free school meals, then you should have received a letter from Sheffield City Council that entitles you to £35 of supermarket vouchers per child.  If you have not received a letter, or you would like help accessing the vouchers, please contact school.

Sheffield Shoebox Appeal

Many thanks for all your donations to the shoebox appeal.  We donated over 50 boxes containing a wide variety of gifts including hot chocolate, wonderful puzzles and books.

YeAR 11 Parents' Evening – Thursday 14 January

Y11 parents will receive joining instructions for the online parents’ evening next week.
