Join our teacher training courses

As well as being a successful secondary school and sixth form, we run one of the country's original teaching schools.

This means we train people to become teachers, as well as provide ongoing professional development to current teachers.

The National Modern Languages SCITT

Given our strong track record of both trainee teacher recruitment and teaching modern languages, the Department for Education appointed us as a national provider of language teacher training.

We set up the National Modern Languages SCITT in 2017, which is unique for two reasons:

  • It is the only national teacher training course that specialises in modern languages.
  • It is a unique partnership between state and independent schools, allowing our trainees to experience teaching in both settings.

You also may qualify for a scholarship or bursary.

You can find out more at our NML SCITT website here.

Train to teach in primary or secondary schools

We also train teachers via the School Direct route, which allows you to specialise in other subjects. Again, it is a one-year course, offering hands-on experience in the classroom, as well as academic study at university.
