Support for parents of LGBT+ students

Published on 12/09/17

SAYiT is a long standing Sheffield-based organisation which aims to transform the lives of young LGBT+ people through support, empowerment and training.

Increasingly parents and carers are telling them that they too need space to be able to consider how best to support their young people.

SAYiT are organising monthly meetings which provide an opportunity to meet some of the staff who run SAYiT’s youth groups, and some of our LGBT+ volunteers who are happy to talk about what helped/hindered them in their relationships with their parents.

The next meeting is on Thursday 5th October, from 6pm to 7.30pm, with refreshments available from 5.45pm.

It will be held at Scotia Works, Leadmill Road, Sheffield S1 4SE.

Future meeting dates are:

Thursday 2nd November: they are hoping that the Leeds Tavistock clinic will come and give a talk.

Thursday 7th December: they are hoping to have a session on siblings and other family members.

You can just turn up at the meeting but if you would like to be kept updated about their events or just want further information, please contact Kath Broomhead or Liz Watson at SAYiT.
