Year 6-7 transition

We believe that a smooth, positive and exciting transition from Year 6 to Year 7 is crucial to the start of each child’s secondary education. The aim of our transition process is for every pupil to move up to Silverdale feeling excited, confident and cared for.

Students joining us in September 2022

Welcome to Silverdale School!

Key Events

Uniform evening

A chance to try on sample sizes and order uniform. We recommend that uniform is ordered as soon as possible so that all students arrive on the first day in full uniform. Orders can also be placed directly via the website: www.schools.stitchfactory.co.uk

SEND coffee morning (by invitation)

An event for us to welcome the parents and carers of children with SEND (those with an EHC Plan or who are on the SEND register at their primary school). It is an opportunity to meet the team, learn about the support available and to ask any questions about inclusion at Silverdale. Invitations will be sent out through primary schools.

Induction evening

Students will meet their new form and form tutor/s and spend time in these groups getting to know their classmates. Parents and carers will receive presentations from the Head of School, Mrs Sims and Mrs Housley, Head of Year 7.

Transition days

All new Year 7 students will join us for two days at Silverdale School. They will experience a variety of taster lessons, meet your new teachers and school staff, have the opportunity to make new friends and explore your new school. They will even have the chance to watch and participate in a drama performance! This is a vital part of the transition process, and it is our intention that students leave the days excited to start at Silverdale.

Summer's Cool

All new Year 7 students are invited to join us for one of two action packed weeks during the summer holiday. Students will get to know the school, work with several of their new teachers, make friends from other primary schools and improve literacy. Our aim is to enable new students to join Silverdale School with confidence.

There is a charge of £50 to cover the week's activities. Applications for Summer’s Cool can be made via ParentPay (parents and carers have been contacted by email with ParentPay activation details). For support with ParentPay please contact finance@silverdale.chorustrust.org. For general enquiries regarding Summer’s Cool please contact Y7pastoralmanager@silverdale.chorustrust.org.
