Lauren Donohue
Assistant Headteacher
Lauren is the Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning at Silverdale School. She studied Psychology (BSc) at university, developing a strong interest in research and how people learn, which continues to underpin her approach to education and leadership.
Before training to teach, Lauren worked for the local authority, where she supported young people and families, including working on the transition of students following the closure of Abbeydale Grange School. She has also worked in special educational needs settings, developing a strong commitment to inclusive practice. This is further informed by her time spent in Romania working with children with disabilities, an experience that continues to shape her values and approach to education.
Lauren began her teaching career over 14 years ago and has since developed extensive experience across a range of roles, including Head of Social Sciences, Head of Y12, Teaching and Learning Lead and Associate Member of the Senior Leadership Team. She is passionate about high-quality teaching and professional learning and is committed to supporting teachers to continually refine their practice.
Her approach to leadership is just like her teaching: values-driven, grounded in trust, integrity and kindness. Lauren puts great focus on building meaningful relationships with students and her team. She is particularly focused on creating a culture where staff feel supported and empowered, and where all students, regardless of background or need, can succeed.
Outside of school, Lauren enjoys running, spending time outdoors and supporting her children through their busy football schedules!
